Usual Competitions/Activities

Dance Club offers students more than 10 weeks of dance classes per session. A variety of styles are taught in high-energy, fun classes by teachers with a passion for dance and a desire to ensure each member of the class has fun and learns new skills.

All levels of previous dance experience are catered for, from the absolute beginner to those who have danced for years. Classes are run in a non-competitive, welcoming manner, where the only requirement is that students have the right attitude-the attitude of wanting to have fun dancing in a supportive environment. Oh, and a smile never hurts either!

Another aspect of Dance Club that really appeals to a number of dance students is the cost. Once the $30 Membership Fee for 2008 is paid all classes are free!

Each year there are different performance opportunities for Dance Club members. In recent years these have included performances at Awards' Nights, festivals/fairs, malls and sporting matches. But by far our most popular and exciting performances of the year are those at the Unibar. At the end of each session Dance Club puts on a show at the Unibar to demonstrate the awesome routines that we have learned throughout the semester. While performances are optional for students, most students find it a great way to celebrate their accomplishment and show what they have learned to their friends and colleagues. These performances are usually held in Weeks 12 and 13 of each session.

Training Days and Times

Dance Club tries to cater to all students by offering more than a dozen different classes throughout the week during university hours. Each class runs for one hour per week. Teachers also often offer optional “catch-up” classes during the semester so that students who miss a class or feel that they need some revision are still able to progress with the rest of the class.
