Swim School

Welcome

Specialising in swimming instruction at all levels with an achievement based program that allows for the full development of your child's swimming potential.

The University Swim School program provides a progressive series of skills for each level from pre-school and water confidence up to advanced stroke correction and squad training. As each skill is mastered and successfully demonstrated, the child proceeds onto developing the next skill as they progress through our program. This progressive achievement ensures a sound development of stroke technique and fitness while maintaining a high level of motivation and enjoyment for your child.

Swimming lessons are based on 10 week blocks. Children are encouraged to come twice per week. Special intensive classes are held during every summer holiday and October holidays (i.e. children can come every day, Monday to Friday, during the holidays). These intensive classes are excellent as the children progress faster.

•  Make up classes DO NOT REPLACE your normal class.
•  Make up classes cannot be used to REDUCE your next fees.
•  Make up lessons must be taken within the calendar (same) month of the missed lesson.
•  Make up lessons will only be given if space is available in other classes.
•  No guarantee can be given of space availability.

PUBLIC HOLIDAYS
No lessons will be held on Public Holidays.

PARENTAL INVOLVEMENT
Parents are asked to view their child's lesson from a distance (i.e. back under cover) as the children are easily distracted. You can still see how your child is going from there. Should you have any queries regarding your child's progress or any other concerns, please feel free to speak to the Supervisor on duty. Parents are encouraged to discuss their child's progress with the instructor at times set by the instructor.

BAD WEATHER
As our pool is outdoors we are at times at the mercy of the elements. The pool is heated at 27°C - 28°C all year 'round, making swimming lessons comfortable. During electrical storms and severe weather conditions lessons may be called off. This decision is up to the Head Coach/Manager of the Swim School and it is necessary on bad weather days to ring the Centre to confirm if lessons are on or not.

START OF LESSON PROCEDURE

•  Children must be 10 mins early to their lesson.
•  Names marked off at desk.
•  Children changed, caps on and ready for their lesson.
•  Children must be at the area designated by their instructor, sitting on pool deck, 5 mins prior to start of lesson.

PROGRESS / ACHIEVEMENT CERTIFICATES
As each level is achieved, swimmers will be awarded certificates as an indicator of their progress and skill level.

NOTICE BOARDS / NEWSLETTERS
Parents please read notice boards and newsletters concerning the University Swim School as it is important to receive up to date information regularly.
