Learn to Swim

Our Learn to Swim Program is broken down into 3 ability based levels. Children must be at least 2 and half years to book into this program, with all children assessed by a Supervisor prior to booking into a class. Assessments are completed free of charge and will need to be booked in with the Swim School administration team. Please call to arrange a booking.

Tadpole - Maximum 3 children per class

This level will teach children to respect the water first and foremost by learning how to safely enter and exit the pool. Children will also learn how to submerge, correct body position, streamlines, floating on their front and back, and paddle and kick. The fundamentals of swimming are taught in this level.

  • Enter and exit the pool safely
  • Submerge
  • Streamlined body position
  • Paddle and kick with pop up breathing
  • Independently float (front and back)

Frog - Maximum 4 children per class

This level will expand further on what was learnt previously by developing a basic freestyle stroke focusing on blowing bubbles as a separate skill. A basic back kick is also introduced. In order to progress from this level, children will need to demonstrate correct technique sustained over 8 metres.

  • Streamlined body position
  • Overarm for 8 metres
  • Bubbling and breathing as a separate skill
  • Back kicking
  • Underwater dolphin kick for 8 metres

Goldfish - Maximum 5 children per class

This level will develop children’s stamina by introducing freestyle breathing on every four strokes. Backstroke is covered in its entirety over a distance of 8 metres. In order to progress from this level, children will need to demonstrate correct technique sustained over 8 metres.

  • Streamlined body position
  • Freestyle for 8 metres breathing
  • Circle swimming
  • Backstroke for 8 metres
  • Somersault
  • Underwater dolphin kick for 8 metre
